The Institute
of Metadynamics
The Institute holds residential courses and summer schools at its home, Le Domaine de Minjou, an 18th-century French manor farmhouse in the Dordogne.
The setting is deep in wonderful countryside, with long walks, oak woods dotted with ruins, abundant fields and vineyards. Unspoilt medieval bastide villages, alive with markets and festivals during the summer months, surround this special place, all within around a ten-minute drive.
From April to October each year, the Domaine hosts a series of residential weeks ranging from An Introduction to Metadynamics through to certified status as a Master Tutor.
The principal subjects of the Metadynamic Guides series are distilled into focused three-day courses, with three hours of tuition each day.
Study seriously.
Or make it part of a holiday.
The courses can be taken as part of a relaxing stay in an exceptional part of rural France, or approached as intensive training leading towards a professional qualification.
Minjou provides a calm, quiet and beautiful environment in which to relax and study. Its old-world character gives the Institute an atmosphere very different from the conventional classroom.
The aim is simple: to provide space for thought, discussion, learning and a temporary change of pace.
Life at Minjou
The Domaine has six double bedrooms, three bathrooms and a shower room, together with a fully equipped kitchen, lecture room and grand reception room with library.
There is also a reading and study room with mezzanine, a further kitchen and dining room, and a meditation yurt available to students and guests.
Accommodation is intentionally rustic and friendly. Minjou is not a hotel: it is a place of learning.
Space to breathe
Leisure facilities include a large outdoor swimming pool, pond and small lake, exercise equipment, table football, table tennis, archery, hot tub and sauna.
The ten-acre estate also provides ample space for walking, reading, quiet conversation and forest bathing.
Beyond Minjou, the villages, markets, countryside and historic towns of the Dordogne offer another dimension to a residential stay.
Residential study
Courses at the Institute
Residential teaching ranges from practical courses based on the Metadynamic Guides to advanced study of the theoretical foundations of Metadynamics.
Those enrolling on a residential course are automatically accorded membership of the Institute.
Personal development
Metadynamic Well Being
Our most popular course is, unsurprisingly, the one designed to provide the most immediate redirection to lives which have become confused or unfocused.
It draws upon the principles developed in Help Yourself With Metadynamics, The Metadynamic Guide to the Self, The Metadynamic Guide to Wisdom, The Metadynamic Guide to Mind, The Metadynamic Guide to Wealth and The Metadynamic Guide to Health.
Its focus is practical: understanding circumstances more clearly and directing time, energy and attention towards what genuinely matters.
Supported recovery
Addiction Recovery
The Institute is not a medical facility and its guidance should be considered an addition to, not an alternative to, professional medical advice.
Time spent at Minjou has helped people to reframe their addiction, understand more clearly what it results from and identify a path towards recovery.
The principles behind the programme are laid out in The Metadynamic Guide to Addiction Recovery, augmented by the peaceful atmosphere of the retreat and an opportunity to step temporarily away from an environment with which the individual may be struggling to cope.

Board
and lodging
Accommodation at the Institute is rustic and friendly. It is not a hotel but a place of learning.
Bedrooms in the Périgordian part of the property include a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and two double bedrooms sharing a shower room. Three further bedrooms in the Educational Wing share two bathrooms.
Breakfast and dinner are served as communal meals, either in the main kitchen and dining room or outside, weather permitting.
The food is wholesome and mostly organically sourced. Meat is not included in every meal, and vegetarian diets are gladly catered for.
Every effort is made to accommodate the comfort and dietary requirements of students and guests.
Metadynamics:
hope without illusion.
Metadynamics asks one of the most important questions any of us can ask:
What is truly valuable?
Not simply what do I want, but what deserves my limited time, attention, love and effort?
You cannot realise every possibility.
That is why choosing matters.
You cannot preserve everything.
That is why value matters.
You cannot defeat time.
That is why now matters.
And you cannot live forever.
That is why your life matters.
Metadynamics is ultimately a philosophy of Action, Value and Existence — a way of understanding reality that can change not only how we see the world, but how we choose to live within it.
It can help us understand difficulty without surrendering to despair; accept what cannot be changed without becoming passive; pursue ambition without being consumed by it; and recognise when something deserves preserving — and when it is time to let go.
Founded upon science and philosophical reasoning, Metadynamics is neither a religion nor pseudoscience. Within a rigorous framework of reasoning it seeks to provide answers to many of the questions people elsewhere seek to answer through belief systems.
The Metadynamics series ranges from accessible Guide books addressing specific areas of human concern through to academic and foundational works.
